What the MIPS Specialist Does
Prior to the performance year (or during mid-year Quick-Start)
- Analyze the practice’s performance history
- Educate the practice regarding CMS QPP / MIPS program changes, including changing CEHRT requirements
- Plan the MIPS / APM strategy for the practice, including registry and/or ACO participation as well as use of CEHRT
During the performance year
- Guide MIPS workflows and improvement activities within the practice
- Coordinate MIPS / APM related issues with third-party vendors such as registries, ACO’s and/or CEHRT vendors
- Monitor MIPS performance throughout the year
After the performance year:
- MIPS Reporting Assistance – helps with registry submissions, direct attestations and/or exclusion applications
- Verify MIPS Final Score – initiate CMS “targeted review” as needed
- MIPS Audit Assistance – in case of CMS pre-payment and/or post-payment audits
