Interoperability and the Practice

Series: “MIPS with Mike”
Webinar: “Interoperability and the Practice”

About the Webinar:

This live webinar will provide practice administrators, physicians and other practice team members a clear understanding of what “interoperability” means, why it is important, how regulations and technology affect it, and how to excel. You will receive a copy of the presentation and have an opportunity to ask follow-up questions.

The webinar helps explain key aspects of the new ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Healthcare IT) Final Rule released May 1, 2020 for the HIT Certification Program. This Final Rule redefines “2015 Edition CEHRT” as required for MIPS; it significantly affects Interoperability requirements and requires HIT vendors to develop and re-certify software no later than 2022. This Final Rule will bring changes for providing access to health information, requirements for electronic Summary of Care records and for Prevention of Information Blocking are included. Practices need to understand how these changes impact them.

With CMS phasing in full-strength MACRA scoring for MIPS over the next 2 years, maximizing your Interoperability score will be critical for earning positive MIPS payment adjustments by 2022; it will not be possible to earn more than a trivial positive MIPS Payment adjustment unless fully complying with the CMS Promoting Interoperability requirements. Practices that lag behind may be giving up more than 10% of their potential Medicare Part B professional service fee reimbursements. Don’t let the pandemic distract you from optimizing your future MIPS payment adjustments!

In this webinar, Mike will discuss:

  • Why Interoperability has a key financial impact on practices over the next years
  • Interoperability requirements for Care Coordination, Providing Patients Access and Prevention of Information Blocking
  • The definitions, measures, workflows and technology
  • Direct messaging, FHIR API and other technologies
  • A pragmatic checklist of what you need to do to succeed moving forward
  • Questions from the audience

This webinar will provide valuable insights for:

  • Physicians
  • Practice Administrators
  • Clinical Assistants
  • IT Specialists
  • And more!
